Clearcreek Enterprises attends Ditch Witch HDD Operator Training
Investing in training is a commitment to quality and safety, and the future of our industry.
In April, several members of the Clearcreek Enterprises team traveled to Pennsylvania
and completed an intensive three-day HDD Operator Training designed to strengthen
hands-on-skills, operational knowledge, and industry best practices in horizontal
directional drilling.
At Clearcreek Enterprises, we believe investing in our team is one of the best ways we
can continue delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality work for our customers.
Throughout Ditch Witch’s HDD Operator Training, the team gained valuable real-world
experience working with HDD equipment and learning advanced operational
techniques.
The course also provided hands on experience operating self-loading drill systems,
helping operators better understand equipment functionality and jobsite setup
procedures. By strengthening these technical skills, crews are better prepared to
position drills properly, plan installations efficiently, and ensure the right tools and
materials are ready before works begins.
Safety remained a major focus throughout the training – especially utility avoidance and
understanding what lies below the surface before drilling begins. Proper planning and
safe drilling practices are critical in underground utility work, and this training reinforced
the importance of protecting existing infrastructure while safely installing customer
products.
Another standout portion of the training was the “Mud School” which focused on the
importance of bore mud in HDD operations. Team members learned how proper mud
usage impacts drilling performance, efficiency, and overall installation quality.
Beyond the technical knowledge gained, the experience also reflected the culture of
growth and professionalism at Clearcreek Enterprises. Sean Loudermilk, our
Underground Project Manager, shared that it was a great opportunity and experience to
represent the company during the training and expressed the pride in being part of a
company that invests in employee development and continuous improvement.
Training opportunities like this ultimately benefit both our team and our customers. By
continuing to educate and develop our crews, we can provide safer installations,
improved efficiency, and a higher level of confidence on every project we complete.
We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Chase Walter at Ditch Witch for
hosting this training and providing valuable industry knowledge, hand-on instruction,
and an outstanding learning environment for our team. Opportunities like this play an
important role in strengthening the future of the fiber and utility industry.
At Clearcreek Enterprises, we remain committed to building strong teams, investing in
education, and delivering quality solutions for the communities and customers we serve.

A word from our CEO, David Wilcox:
I am very proud of our team for completing this training, it showcases their commitment
to delivering a quality product for our customers. There are many potential risks
involved in directional drilling so ensuring that we understand and appropriately utilize
the latest technology is crucial to ensuring a safe working environment and delivering a
on time, on budget project.
